Karoline Bröckel
"on the move" - drawings - April 14 until May 12, 2012
"On the move" is the third solo show of the artist in Gallery Werner Klein.
The exhibition focuses on two main subjects in her work: shadows and landscape.
Karoline Bröckel is interested in natural movements. Churning boughs of a birch tree can be the initial point of a drawing. The shadow leads the drawing hand and by means of the pencil transforms it into a line.
Her most recent drawings are focused on landscape itself. Along her way by train or by car she keeps an eye on the landscape drifting by and her hand takes the lead and beyond report takes down in shorthand. Abstract memories, transformed into small-scale drawings.
Karoline Bröckel was born in Tübingen 1964. She lives and works near Munich
Her works are part of considerable museum collections such as Kupferstichkabinett Berlin, museum kunstpalast Düsseldorf, Museum Folkwang Essen, Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern and Staatliche Grafische Sammlungen Munich. Recently her drawings have been shown during the inauguration of the Center for Drawing in Diepenheim NL.
